Public school education for all American students is guaranteed by the constitution and is a basic need for both the student and the community. There is a lot of controversy over the “correct” education techniques and what form of discipline is necessary or allowed. We also see a heavy emphasis on testing and student achievement while students are struggling socially, emotionally and behaviorally and are being impacted by all of the traumas and stressors in their lives -- both at school and in the community.
