His streak of 740 consecutive games was the 12th longest in baseball history. Following Dale, a true American hero, Ty Michael Carter, will talk to Dan about being awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama in 2013. Dale Murphy

Baseball legend Dale Murphy is a former MLB outfielder, catcher and first baseman. During an 18-year career, 1976–93, he played for three different teams, but's best noted for his time with the Atlanta Braves. Among his recognitions, Murphy won consecutive National League Most Valuable Player Awards (1982–83), the National League's Silver Slugger Award four straight years (1982–85) and the National League's Gold Glove Award five straight years (1982–86). He's an inductee to the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated 3 times and was honored by President Regan in the White House.

Ty Michael Carter

Ty Michael Carter was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama on Aug. 26, 2013. He enlisted in the military in 1998, attending the Marine Corps Combat Engineer School. Sent to Primary Marksmanship Instructor School, he served 2 training deployments before his honorable discharge in 2002. He spent 5 years doing a variety of jobs around the country, but working as a civilian he missed the military’s sense of purpose. Carter knew he was meant for further service. He enlisted in the US Army in 2008 and was sent to Fort Carson to join 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He deployed for 1 year to Nuristan Province, Afghanistan
