But there are also privacy risks for those in the vicinity. In July 2013, the US Department of Justice reported that less than 25%, at that time, of police departments used body cams. By 2015, 95% of large police departments reported they were either already using body cameras or had committed to doing so in the near future. Laws for body cam use are also increasing.
