Body cameras can provide great benefit for capturing what really happens in various situations and support accountability for the actions of those wearing them. But there are also privacy risks for those in the vicinity. In July 2013, the US Department of Justice reported that less than 25%, at that time, of police departments used body cams. By 2015, 95% of large police departments reported they were either already using body cameras or had committed to doing so in the near future. Laws for body cam use are also increasing.
