Nurses are licensed in the State in which they live and practice. They can apply for licensure in other states, but it can be a cumbersome and sometimes frustrating process. Boards of Nursing across the country are in business to protect the public. Their interaction with nurses is entirely to that end. What I discovered is that they may not be as friendly or helpful to nurses as one might expect.
