NorthStar’s education lending program originated more than $8 billion of postsecondary education loans from 1997 to 2010 with borrower benefit arrangements where NorthStar pays the student’s federal government origination fees and rebates interest back to eligible borrowers, in the form of a repayment incentive. Buffy Smith, Ph.D.
|
Buffy Smith, Ph.D. is a sociologist, educator, consultant; interim dean of Dougherty Family College, and professor of Sociology at the University of St. Thomas. She teaches several Sociology courses and her primary research interests include examining racial and class disparities within the higher education system. She writes and researches on policy issues dealing with mentoring, access, retention, equity, diversity in higher education and how colleges and universities can assist underserved students in navigating institutional culture to achieve academic success.
