Why do all of the great spiritual leaders down through history and many of the present day teach of silence and stillness? Why is silence even a thing? Aren’t we supposed to be working hard, striving after a righteous life? Aren’t we supposed to be working hard to serve our brothers and sister? Aren’t we supposed to be doing the work of growing at all times? Why do they talk about stillness? About silence? About effortless effort?
