Dr. Stephen Chanock received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and completed
training in pediatrics, pediatric infectious diseases, and pediatric
hematology/oncology at Boston Children¹s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute. Afterwards, he joined the National Cancer Institute,
where he is a senior investigator. He returned to the Pediatric Oncology
Branch, where his brother had been treated for a fatal rare type of
pediatric cancer. His brother was diagnosed with cancer within days of his
acceptance to medical school and died before the end of his first year influencing his
