Next, we will focus on doing business in Canada with the help of two lawyers from the Canadian law firm of McCarthy Tetrault. Vince will speak first with Jill Yates, one of the authors of "Defending Class Actions of in Canada," regarding the hot areas in Canadian class actions, the similarities and differences between Canadian and U.S. class actions, and how cases in both countries influence each other. Then, Donovan Plomp will discuss the differences between employment law in Canada and the U.S., and provide employment law guidelines for employers to follow to help avoid a sticky situation.
