On July 1, Mexican voters turned their backs on the pro-business, reformist, Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) and brought the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) back into power. During its 70-year rule the PRI had a reputation for corruption, cronyism and nationalistic/socialistic rhetoric that made Mexico a less than hospitable place for foreign firms.
