Understanding the link between a child's behavior and her attachment to her parents can yield important information regarding how to develop healthy relationships and effective coping skills in adolescence. And while these challenges can impact all families, adoptive families and children can experience extra diffilculty when attempting to cultivate secure attachment. Dr Stevie Stanford will highlight different types of attachment and show our listeners practical ways to cultivate a strong, healthy bond with our children, even during the challenging years of adolescence.

Stevie Stanford, PhD is Clinical Director at Copper Canyon Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for girls ages 12 to 17 in Rimrock, AZ . She specializes in trauma, eating disorders, attachment issues, and substance abuse. She has recently presented at several conferences around the country and published articles in the area of eating disorders. She is trained in EMDR, DBT and creative modalities of CBT. She is proficient in psychological testing and enjoys unlocking answers in complex psychological evaluations and report writing.
