The human mind is a neurotic mind, says Buddhism. So, all tools presented w/in Buddhist practice are to work with, or undo, this neuroticism. Different than the partitioning out of certain labels & maladies as Western medicine does, Buddhism offers a basic understanding of the nature of all human minds. Yes, different minds get shaped towards different styles of heightenings of this basic neuroticism, but the tools still guide us back to that baseline - all human minds function from & w/a level of neuroticism.
