Hawthorn-Deppen, after abusing pain pills for years to numb her pain, credits the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous with reinforcing her recovery. She enjoys riding her bicycle in her spare time and dreams of cycling cross-country from Pennsylvania to Florida one day.
