America’s pastime has a serious problem! Young pitcher’s arms are blowing out at an alarming rate. Simply Google “epidemic of hurt young pitchers” as I did and you will literally find over 10 million results. According to Yahoo Sports there have been 33 pitchers that have undergone Tommy John Surgery this season alone. Of those, only three 30 or older, and next on the list is Miami Marlins phenomenal young pitcher Jose Fernandez. The average age according to Yahoo Sports of these pitchers is 24.2 years old.
