Dr. Jessica Shade is the Director of Science Programs at The Organic Center (, where she leads projects associated with communicating and conducting science supporting the benefits of organic. Dr. Shade started her involvement in the organic movement as an undergraduate at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she was a co-owner of the Kresge Natural Foods Cooperative. Gwendolyn Wyard has been actively working in the organic industry for 17 years. She serves as the Regulatory Director of Organic Standards and Food Safety for the Organic Trade Association (OTA). In this capacity she works on the development of policy strategy through regulatory engagement in the interest of OTA’s mission and its members. Gwendolyn also serves on the Organic Material Review Institute (OMRI) Board of Directors in the OTA designated seat and she serves as Technical Representative in North America for the Global Organic Textile Standard.
