In 1968, Paul Ehrlich and his wife, Anne, published the book, The Population Bomb, which shook the world as it discussed the connection between environmental degradation and exponential human population growth. Though critics abound, many subsequent scholars and activists have continued the push for humane, science-based public policy to address the quandary of providing a good standard of living for all while faced with the constraints of earth’s finite resources.
