The Natural History Museum, a popup museum based in New York City, has been instrumental in putting pressure on natural history museums and science centers to divest from the fossil fuel industry. Most museums have maintained a position of neutrality when it comes to highly charged and controversial topics, and many believe that they can maintain their neutrality regardless of their funders. This week I will discuss this issue with Beka Economopoulos, co-founder of The Natural History Museum, as well as the role that mobile and popup museums can play in civil engagement.
