Forgetfulness is a default state that allows us to learn and to remember better. In an Internet age we are asked to remember disconnected facts and the inability to remember them causes anxiety. It's important to remember that the brain has evolved over the millennia to be able to forget. It is only by forgetting that we learn to stop counting with fingers and do mental math. It is only through forgetting that we learn to fall in love again.
