Carol Fruin is a mother, speaker, and author. After she and her husband lost their son Grant to suicide in 2009, they found their family and community in a state of shock and despair. However, the despair did not remain. Carol Fruin is a Chicago area native and now resides with her family in rural Huntley, Illinois. She and her husband Ross have been married for 26 years. They live on their farm and have two other children, Hayden 20, and Emilie, 17. She enjoys waterskiing, spending time with friends and family, and is very active in her local church.
