As a first time men's head basketball coach at Salve Regina University, he was readying the team for practice before they were to start the game when he found out his son Max had been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Max was 9 months old, Michael was 5 months into his head coaching career. Standing before a group of fit able-bodied young men, he started his usual practice and warm-up, but this time was different.
