Girls and women in sport have been shown to receive lower levels of community and media support and attention compared to their brothers even in communities already disadvantaged. With females particularly at-risk of being left behind, there is a 'rescue' source in many communities being ignored; Kinesiology Departments in local colleges. Kinesiology, and particularly sport psychology professionals, have a unique set of skills and knowledge to contribute to youth development at individual and community levels. Dr. Carter is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Athletic Training, Health, and Exercise Science (ATHES) and Director of PEAK: a sport, exercise, and performance facility at Long Island University-Brooklyn that provides individual and group sport, exercise, and performance (SEP) services, promotes community health and wellness through ongoing research and sport/exercise psychologically related programs, and offers the Give Program.

Angela is Co-Director of a Coach Education Certificate Program called LEADS. This program is an aspect of the PEAK Program operating out of Long Island University Continuing Education. The focus of LEADS is to educate coaches, parents and others concerning essential steps to development of youth leaders.
Angels Hucles is chief empowerment officer of Empowerment Through Sport, a new NGO in sport development space. She is a two-time Olympian Gold Medalist for USA Soccer. She is President of the Women’s Sports Foundation and frequently covers events for FOX sports such a 2015 FIFA World Cup.
