University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign's Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education (AE3) is one of those programs. AE3 works to connect faculty and students to innovative teaching and learning in the College of Engineering at Illinois. Laura Hahn

Laura Hahn has been the Director of the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education (AE3) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2013. With an academic background in language teaching and learning, her work has crisscrossed the fields of applied linguistics, instructional development, and program administration. Through AE3, she collaborates with faculty who want to explore, innovate, and work together to enhance teaching and learning in the College of Engineering. She is also co-authoring a book entitled, “Women and Ideas in Engineering: Twelve Stories from Illinois,” to be published by the University of Illinois Press. Matt West

Matt West is Associate Professor of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his PhD in control and dynamical systems from the California Institute of Technology; his research interests include asynchronous and structure-preserving integrators, stochastic simulation and uncertainty quantification, and multi-scale and multi-physics simulations.
