Penrose Halson

When PENROSE HALSON was 25 and still unmarried, her mother sent her to the Katharine Allen Marriage & Advice Bureau. Before dating apps, people looking for "the one" knew that real life matchmakers could be their best chance. In 1992 Penrose Halson, a former client, was asked to take over The Marriage Bureau, a matchmaking service launched in 1939. Drawing from her own experiences, along with the Bureau’s extensive archives, Halson heartwarmingly crafts an unforgettable narrative of life and love during World War II.
