Episode Description

The journey that has brought me to Future Proof Radio started in 2004. It has been a very long and interesting one. I'll be discussing how my career evolved from working with databases in the insurance industry to learning automation, mechanical systems and building science with Honeywell. I'll also discuss my life as a consultant and how I saw green building not catching on as it should despite it's high importance regarding the health and well being of our society and our planet. These insights led me to create the idea of Future Proof, write my book and inspire me to create FutureProofMyBuilding.com. I want to help the public understand how simple and cost-effective green options can be while helping green product and service providers so that together we can build a better world.

Tune in to learn more.

Shane Wolffe

My name is Shane Wolffe and I work as a professional engineer with “Green Buildings” in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada, a city with one of the harshest climates that people live in. I am LEED accredited, trained by the Passive House institute, a Certified Energy Auditor and a certified Thermographer. I’ve worked as a consultant, a technician and as a manager for a start-up modular home building company. I've worked in pretty much every building type there is. I've seen a lot of issues but I've also seen a lot of solutions. I know that we can do much better, and if we do, we can build a much more sustainable world.

I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from the best companies and minds involved with energy efficiency and green building. Unfortunately these companies often have difficulty gaining traction despite their value regarding the big picture. In other words, the green building industry has a marketing problem.

I firmly believe that this industry can reshape our economy and is necessary for the long term prosperity of humans and nature alike. The only way that this industry and movement is going to over-take the status quo is if regular folks understand how green building is of serious benefit to them, and they understand how to do it in an economical way. With this understanding I wrote my book and came up with the idea for my website. We will dive into this world so you can understand how you can help build a better one.
