Curtis Johnson

Curtis Johnson is President of the Citistates Group, which for 25 years has produced reports for leading newspapers on the strategic issues facing regions. He is managing partner of Education Evolving, a Minnesota-based organization with roots to the pioneering days of state policies on school choice, to the invention of the idea of chartering schools, and the start of the movement of teacher professional practices. Curt has been a teacher, community college president, head of a public affairs research organization, policy adviser and chief of staff to a Minnesota governor, and board chair of one of America’s only two regional governments. He co-authored Century of the City, based on a 2007 global conference sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation, and Disrupting Class, explaining how the industry of schools is being disrupted by changing learning models, and how school districts and the chartered sector can respond. The book ranked #14 on Newsweek’s 2009 list of 50 must-read books.
