Dr. Brian L. and Pamela Meyer Crissey

Brian served as a computer specialist with the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Vietnam Conflict and worked as a staff member on the Committee On Nuclear and Alternative Energy Systems for the National Academy of Sciences. Taking what he learned about energy choices and risks, he became active in working against the proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear power plants. His research into their use and potentially devastating destruction led him to believe that we all need to be aware of our surroundings and know what to do if an unexpected disaster strikes. Pam found herself in numerous crisis predicaments—a sudden evacuation while living on Cyprus, living within 40 miles of Three Mile Island and later living in close proximity to Mt. St. Helens when it erupted. These incidents cemented a need in her mind to be ready for the unexpected. In 1991, she and Brian began Granite Publishing Group, a diverse publishing company. In their spare time they conduct educational and spiritual programs at the Crystal Creek Centerin Western North Carolina.
