John Luetkemeyer

John Luetkemeyer is the Coaching Director for the Kirkwood Youth Hockey Association in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO. KYHA fields teams at all age & skill levels, serving 375 players last season. John played youth hockey at Kirkwood from 1975 – 1984, returning as an assistant coach for his nephew’s team in 1994. Twenty years later, he has coached players from their first stride on the ice through high school. He has served as Kirkwood’s Coaching Director for last 7 years where he was instrumental in changes that have made the association the premier club in town for player development. In 2006, he designed/implemented a program for entry level players which was so successful that Missouri Hockey mandated its 11 other associations adopt the format. Since 2011, John has spearheaded the association’s full adoption of USA Hockey's American Development Model and making them one of only 11 Model Associations in the country. Most recently, John spoke at the Hockey Alberta Summit where he presented to 300 administrators/coaching directors about programming that puts the player first.
