Cheryl Obermiller

Cheryl Obermiller started her career as a fashion and promotional model in 1982, and from 1985-88 ran her own agency, Models by Cj. In 1993, Cheryl , now affectionately known as ‘The Pothole Queen,’ founded Obermiller Construction Services, Inc., a heavy construction company, specializing in commercial pavement maintenance and construction based in Harrison, Missouri. Now a multi-million dollar concern, it continues to be family owned and operated. In 2010 Cheryl discovered that her company accountant had embezzled up to a million dollars in a scheme that lasted for almost eight years. Not only did this cause serious problems for the company, but it also resulted in her accountant, a young wife and mother, being sentenced to 33 months in a federal penitentiary. After seeing how common and devastating financial fraud has become for small businesses, and how easy it is to prevent, she designed a comprehensive program to give small business owners simple and effective control of their accounting systems. The book, My Accountant’s Drawers ~ the Small Business Owner’s Guide to Outwitting Embezzlers, Thieves and Scallywags, will be published in late 2014.
