Tim Shriver
Tim Shriver is a Fellow at the Stanford d.school and a Chief Dream Director at The Future Project, a national team of educators, artists, and entrepreneurs on a mission to give every high school student in America the chance to live a life of passion and purpose today. The Future Project has created a new character for high schools, the Dream Director, whose job is to embed in a high school and catalyze student-centered, student-led transformative change across their school culture. The roots of this work come from Tim’s leadership within Special Olympics and his experience as co-founder of Spread the Word to End the Word, a national initiative he helped launch seven years ago as a sophomore at Yale University. The movement is a global youth-led campaign to end the casual and pejorative use of the word “retard” and transform the way we see and treat those with intellectual disabilities. The initiative now has more than 500,000 pledges at schools, colleges and community centers.
