Scott Blais: CEO and Board President
Scott has more than 20 years of experience managing African and Asian elephants in zoos, circuses and at a natural habitat sanctuary. In 1995 Scott Blais co- founded The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee and subsequently, for more than 16 years, acted as Director of Operations; managing and overseeing elephant care staff, and participating daily with elephant care and observation of the 25 elephants that have resided there. Scott was also in charge of management and oversight of the development of this 2700 acres facility, creating a strong aptitude for design and construction complemented by his knowledge and comprehension of the physical and emotional needs of captive elephants. Presently, Scott serves as an international consultant for captive elephant health and welfare, providing vital insight to promote healthier alternatives for ailing captive elephants.
