Charlene Niemi, PhD, RN, PHN, CNE


Dr. Niemi is an assistant professor in nursing at California State University of Channel Islands and the lead faculty for community health nursing and psychiatric/ mental health nursing. She began teaching in 1994 and has taught at several universities in California. Her nursing career has spanned public health, school health, faith-based health care, and case management in elder health. Dr. Niemi is a content expert in community health nursing and psychiatric and mental health nursing. Her program of research focuses on adults who were sexually abused by clergy as children and psychological well-being. Currently she is working on a book for the loved ones of those abused. In addition, she developed and continues to refine and expand on the health education of chronic health issues and the three levels of prevention in partnership with a large health care event.
