Lisa Schlager is a recognized advocacy leader in the cancer community. As Vice President of Community Affairs & Public Policy (2010-present), she manages strategic partnerships for FORCE, a national nonprofit dedicated to the hereditary cancer community. She also spearheads the organization’s public policy efforts, ensuring that the needs of the high-risk cancer community are represented through interactions with the FDA, National Cancer Institute, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Congress & other influential institutions. Lisa is an expert in genetic privacy and protections as well as health care laws. She has a special interest in access-to-care issues, including insurance coverage of genetic testing, cancer screening, risk-reducing surgeries, targeted treatments and more. She serves in a number of leadership roles. A BRCA1 genetic mutation that she and other family members carry is the motivation for her work. She lives in DC area with her husband and 2 teenage children
