Dr. Mel Pohl

Dr. Pohl is Vice president of medical affairs and medical director of the Las Vegas Recovery Center (LVRC), the only private, medically managed inpatient detoxification and addiction treatment facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a key force in developing LVRC’s chronic pain rehabilitation program. A Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM), he is a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, a board certified family practitioner, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. He is a nationally known public speaker and co-author of The Caregiver’s Journey: When You Love Someone with AIDS, Staying Sane: When You Care for Someone with Chronic Illness, A Day Without Pain (with Mike Donahue) and the recently published Pain Recovery: A Comprehensive Opioid-Free Approach..
