Sarah Nelson

Sarah Nelson is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner in Portland metro area. She owns and operates Ancient Fern Medicine with her husband, Timothy Nelson, also a practitioner of Chinese medicine. Sarah is passionate about helping people who are struggling with complex chronic conditions such as cancer, autoimmune disease, and other endocrine and metabolic disorders to reclaim their health and vitality. Sarah grew up in the Midwest, and found her way to a career in Chinese medicine through her own complex health challenges that Western medicine alone was unable to solve. After graduating from the University of Kansas in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she moved to Portland to attend the National University of Natural Medicine. During her formal training at NUNM, Sarah completed a year long internship at (IEP) the Immune Enhancement Project in SE Portland. IEP is a clinic dedicated to providing free, or very low cost holistic medicine services to individuals with all types of cancer, and autoimmune disease. After receiving her acupuncture license in 2016, Sarah continued on as a member of the IEP staff for another two years, before leaving to focus solely on her family and private practice in 2018. When not practicing Chinese Medicine, you can find her working in her garden, hiking and exploring the PNW wilderness, knitting and paddle boarding. She has an 8 year old son Emmett, and a 4 year old rescue pup Luna that fill her with joy,
