Dr. Lucy Kalanithi is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Stanford School of Medicine and widow of Dr. Paul Kalanithi, author #1 New York Times bestselling memoir, When Breath Becomes Air, for which she wrote the epilogue. She completed her medical degree at Yale, residency at University of California-San Francisco, and post-doc fellowship at Stanford's Clinical Excellence Research Center. In the 22 months between Paul's diagnosis and his death from stage IV lung cancer (2015), they continued to work as physicians (he as chief neurosurgical resident at Stanford) and had a baby daughter.
