The news broke last week that Pete was leaving that position to take the place of Larry Collumus who vacated his post at the premiere meet at Gulfstream Park. Pete Aiello left Oaklawn Park's racing analyst and Announcer job to become Gulfstream Park's Race Caller. He is a native of South Florida and a graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program. Mr. Aiello was the track announcer at Hialeah Park and River Downs. He also has called the Quarter Horse meetings the last three years at Hialeah Park, a racetrack that was integral in Aiello’s introduction to racing as a youngster. Aiello got interested in announcing as a child growing up and playing a computer game that simulated races but did not have an announcer.
