What does it take for leaders to encourage or even cause innovation in their organizations today? It takes a strategic focus and a rigorously applied set of ongoing actions across and through the organization. The right mix of talent and the conversational tone and culture are potent components of the ingredient mix as a platform to launch innovation. To stimulate the environment toward ongoing innovation, leaders will need to cast meaningful and inspiring visions and purposely engage in two-way dialogue with the team members. Leadership assessment and development, strong change management, and culture transformation work are critical parts of supporting innovation in the long term.

Alise Cortez, PhD

Dr. Alise Cortez is a Speaker and Development and Engagement Catalyst based in Dallas, Texas. Having developed her career within the Human Capital industry over the last 16 years, today she is focused on coaching individuals from ages 9 to 90 to celebrate who they are and ultimately navigate toward meaningful work-life integration. She also consults with organizations and conducts workshops to increase employee satisfaction, engagement, performance, and retention.

Alise earned a PhD in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University. Fascinated with how people choose and experience their careers, she focused her dissertation on meaning in work and its relationship to personal identity. Today, she is further developing her “modes of engagement” concept having conducted interview-based research with professionals aged 18 to 80 across multiple industries and is now writing a book about her findings.

Alise is also a college Professor of Psychology and a Gallup-certified Strengths coach. She has lived in Spain and Brazil, traveled extensively across Western Europe, South America, and parts of India, and has some language ability in Spanish and Portuguese. She is also a wife, a mother to a 12-year old daughter, and has served in various community service leadership roles in East Dallas. All these aspects inform Alise’s identity and how she seeks to integrate the work she does within her overall life.
