Episode Description

Trying to stay informed is hard, but then comes someone like this week's guest, Scott Horton, author of "Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan," who appears to have lots of information about how our country first helped to lure the Soviet Union into Afghanistan ;and make this its Vietnam quagmire. Then we supported Osama bin Laden and others with weapons and material to aid their fight against the Soviet invaders. Then later, after the Soviets withdrew, bin Laden lured us into Afghanistan through his act of war against us on 9-11-01. The idea was to bankrupt us emotionally and monetarily, and to cause us to withdraw from his homeland Saudi Arabia, which has so many of Islam's religious sites. Not only did we fall for the trap, we are still there. So after hundreds of thousands of deaths and trillions of dollars spent, and us now widely known for torturing many people, OBL has won beyond his dreams. Tune in, and you will join me in wanting us to get out of Afghanistan!
