Without question the fastest growing segment of the clay target industry is found in youth shooting. It is easy to see that the high school and college clay target shooting programs, air rifle and small bore rifle shooting is at an all time high, as there are far more youth shooters on ranges these days than ever before. This week Marty welcomes Scott Reynolds, the new Executive Director of the Midway USA Foundation. This Foundation started by Larry and Brenda Potterfield has donated tens of millions of dollars to youth shooting programs from junior high through college. In 2019 the Foundation paid grants to almost 3,000 school, 4-H and Scholastic Clay Target Program teams. The teams have skin in the game too and Marty and Scott will provide a full breakdown as to how the Foundation endowment grants work. Marty will have the latest Wing & Clay News from the industry and info on major clay shoots as well.

Marty Fischer is one of America’s best-known outdoor celebrities. A graduate of Georgia Southern College, he has been an outdoor television host for almost three decades on shows like Suzuki Great Outdoors on ESPN, Shotgun Journal on the Outdoor Life Network, TNT Outdoor Explosion and “If It Flies…” on the Pursuit Channel. He is a well-known outdoor writer who has authored two books, The Gun Digest Book of Shotgunning and Limbhangers and 4-Letter Words, a book on turkey hunting. In addition to his books, he has written articles for many of the top outdoor magazines on the market. Marty is a NSCA Level III Certified Instructor who has been coaching wing and clay shooters for more than 35 years. He was recently called “the most famous left handed wingshooter in the world” by the popular Shotgun Life website. He is an avid upland bird, waterfowl and turkey hunter who has harvested more than 100,000 gamebirds in 11 countries on four continents around the world and in more than 35 U.S. states. Marty has been a finalist in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas on four occasions, including a Top 5 finish in that event. He is also a public speaker and President of SportShooting Consultants, Ltd., a gun club design and consulting company that he has owned and managed since 1992.
