However, as life often does, T.J. was thrown a curveball when his son Sean was born with special needs. While T.J. first viewed Sean's needs as a disability, he quickly learned that Sean didn't see it that way at all. Oblivious to potential hardships, Sean loved life every day and made friends everywhere. The impact on T.J.'s life and how he lived was palpable. Upon his passing, T.J. wrote the book, Live Like Sean, where he shares the many lessons learned from Sean’s beautiful, short life.
