Hosted by Camille Vardy
In an episode that has profound personal as well as social implications, Dr. Camille looks at healthy parenting. Her guest is Dr. Victoria Ang-Nolasco, pediatrician, author of the book, Toddler Talking, founder of the Effective Parenting Academy, and host of the Discerning Parenting podcast. It is challenging to work on self-care and healthy lifestyle when parenting can be all-consuming. This is especially true when there is an unhealthy family dynamic. Dr. Camille and Dr. Victoria discuss the social pressures on parents, how our current lifestyle leads kids to feeling isolated and lowers their self-esteem, the impact of the pandemic, how lack of time impacts both parents and children, as well as strategies for handling these issues. They discuss models of healthy parenting in other cultures, the importance of making the most of the important developmental phase when toddlers are learning about the world and what parents of older children can do to shift the dynamics that have already been created.
