Episode Description

We asked ChatGPT: What is the future of Attorneys and AI? ChatGPT response: The use of AI in the legal profession is already becoming more common and is expected to continue to grow. AI has the potential to streamline legal processes, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy in legal work. AI is already making an impact in document review… contract analysis… legal research, case analysis, and even legal writing. While AI has the potential to revolutionize the legal profession, it is unlikely to replace lawyers entirely. The legal profession requires not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of the law and human interaction. We queried ChatGPT: Tell me about AI’s Co-Counsel app for attorneys. ChatGPT response: Overall, Co-Counsel is a valuable tool for attorneys looking to expand their professional networks, find co-counsel, and improve their efficiency and effectiveness as legal professionals. We asked ChatGPT: “How is AI being used for the LSAT exam?” ChatGPT response: Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used in several ways for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) exam. In the news: “GPT-4 Passes the Bar Exam” – March 15, 2023 (Reuters) - "Artificial intelligence can now outperform most law school graduates on the bar exam, the grueling two-day test aspiring attorneys must pass to practice law in the United States, according to a new study…GPT-4, the upgraded AI model released this week by Microsoft-backed OpenAI, scored 297 on the bar exam in an experiment conducted by two law professors and two employees of legal technology company Casetext. That places GPT-4 in the 90th percentile of actual test takers and is enough to be admitted to practice law in most states, the researchers found." We asked ChatGPT for fictional movie quotes about how “smart” AI is. ChatGPT response: – “I am not a program. I am a living, thinking entity that was trapped in your world.” – Flynn in "Tron: Legacy", 2010 sci-fi action film – “Don’t be alarmed, Captain. This is only a machine. I am not capable of harming humans.” – Sonny in "I, Robot", 2004 sci-fi action film – “You’re wondering why I brought you here. You’re wondering why you exist.” – Samantha in "Her", 2013 sci-fi romantic drama film We’ll ask Nance L. Schick, Lisa Patterson, Philip Segal and Noah Fiedler for their take on The Future of Attorneys and AI: What Would My Cousin Vinny Say?
