Every month (on the first Friday of the month), as previously mentioned, I’ve decided to do a monologue instead of having a guest here on Finding Certainty. No dialogue or call-ins. Just yours truly sharing my thoughts and experience on a specific topic (I’ve already planned out 26 topics, one for each letter of the alphabet. It's going to take me a couple of years to get through them all). They’re alphabetical … so, this week, with March being the 3rd month of the year, we’re at “C” and my topic for the week is Composure. Just like last month's topic ("Balance") Composure is a subject I feel I know quite a bit about and have some strong opinions concerning, oftentimes, I feel like it’s something I really could work on. It's definitely a goal, once I sometimes do well and other times fall flat on my face, it seems. Thus, today’s conversation (“with myself”), like so many of these monologues, is one-part analysis, one-part commentary, coupled with large doses of self-reflection mixed in. I believe this is an important topic that touches all of us in one way or another, for good or bad. All of these "Insights from Patrick" topics are. Composure is a key characteristic and habit we all need to develop if we want to find, yes, create and develop even more CERTAINTY in our lives. Join me today to learn from a few lessons from my life, some life changing lessons I've learned about relationships and marriage, a few good examples and some who could do better, and more. We'll look at mentors I’ve learned lessons from with regards to this subject, I share "Seven Tips to Composure" that can truly bless your life, and together we can unpack this topic and try to figure out, together, and to do it better and more. Patrick Laing
Founder and managing partner of Certainty Management, a Nevada based cost-reduction firm that helps raise zero-cost funding for U.S. nonprofits, Patrick Laing has 30+ years of business experience. A former Dale Carnegie instructor, his sales teams have achieved national recognition. One example: Patrick helped LeafGuard NW raise sales from $3.5MM to $20MM annually in just 3 years. They became # 1 in the country out of 65 offices. Promoted to National Trainer, he traveled nationwide, raising close rates 2-3 x at multiple offices. A U.S. Army veteran, Patrick worked in counter intelligence, held a Top-Secret clearance, and also served as a linguist in Italian. A graduate of BYU-Provo, Patrick served a two-year service mission for his church in Italy (‘89-90). While working for Delta Airlines, he received their top award, The Customer Service Citation. In addition to hosting Finding Certainty, Patrick is a contributing author to the Mission Matters series, a collection of lessons from CEOs whose companies are making a difference. Married to Tessha Laing, they live in Las Vegas and are proud dad and step-mom to 4 scholarship winners: in tumbling (U. of Oregon), diving (Cal State-Bakersfield), and academics x 2 (U. of OR & Wellesley College). Their youngest son, Evan, is a sponsored mountain bike racer. Patrick enjoys fly fishing, traveling, and time with his family. His proudest achievement, other than dad and husband, is the free nonprofit fundraising help his company provides.
