Episode Description

Tom Zuba's life has been one of resilience in the face of grief. His first major loss was in 1963, at the age of six, with the death of his younger brother Danny. In 1990, Tom faced grief again with the sudden death of his 18-month-old daughter, Erin. Almost a decade later, in 1999, Tom was to suffer another blow with the sudden death of his wife, Trici. In 2005, yet another disaster struck the Zuba family with the death of 13-year-old son Rory to brain cancer. Undaunted, Tom and his remaining, 12-year-old son, Sean, are learning day-by-day how to create a full, joy-filled life. Tom is an author, a motivational speaker and a workshop facilitator who has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. He has also launched his own website www.tomzuba.com with the intention of "creating sacred space where people can excavate grief, mourn safely, honor the gifts of denial, and consciously participate in their own transformation."
