Episode Description

The show’s first guest is John Petersen, President and Founder of the Arlington Institute, one of the world’s leading futurists, and author of the 2008 book A Vision for 2012: Planning for Extraordinary Changes. This segment explores the large societal turning and macro-level trends in motion across the world and the current as well as potential breakdowns, breakthroughs, surprises, and shocks. The conversation includes three future scenarios: Hard Times (built on borrowed time—continuing the same paradigms); Collapse (a fragmented world of isolationism and immense difficulty, failure to meaningfully create change needed; and Epochal Shifts (a world of constant renewal, where fundamental up-shifts are successfully orchestrated). These scenarios are similar to those reflected in the 2008 National Intelligence Council Report. The show serves as the starting view toward “what is really going on,” and what leaders at all levels need to be considering.

Archives Available on VoiceAmerica Business Channel

ZOOM’D takes you out to big picture issues of the day, in to up-close-and-personal capacities of leadership, and toward a desirable future of constant renewal.

Whether focused on the economic crisis, energy, climate change, or sustainability at large, ZOOM’D looks at what is really going on. We’ll examine patterns at play, drivers behind them, perspectives of leadership, and the importance of changing the way we pursue the future.

ZOOM’D uniquely interweaves emphasis on the objective and subjective—on tangible shifts needed in systems, institutions, governance, and behaviors; and on intangible values, cultures, and leader mindsets needed to see, shape, and orchestrate the shifts.

ZOOM’D bridges the conceptual to the practical for all in business, government, and civil society to benefit from and to activate leadership around.
