Louie, as he likes to be called, was an Olympic athlete at the Games in Berlin when Hitler was in power. World War II broke out & Louie joined the U.S. Air Corps as a bombardier. On a routine search mission over the Pacific his plane crashed. After surviving in a life raft, drifting 2,000 miles for 47 days into Japanese controlled waters, he faced his rescuers who were also his torturers, & suffered the remainder of the war in a series of prison camps.
