Dr. Marvin Lagstein

Dr. Marvin Lagstein grew up in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn College (1960-1964) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (1964-1968). Early on he realized that when he gave a young boy or girl a great smile through orthodontics, almost every child had wonderful changes in their self-esteem and self-image. They did better in school, enhanced their relationships, increased their popularity and even improved family behavior. Over the years, many of the parents of his orthodontic patients were so thrilled with the results Dr. Lagstein was creating for their children they asked him to help them as well. Before long, Dr. Lagstein began performing orthodontics on adults. However, Dr. Lagstein found adult orthodontics to be frustrating and unfulfilling. Adults took longer than children to complete and often got burnt out and regretted their decision to straighten their teeth. He found it so unsatisfying that he finally stopped doing adults completely…until he discovered a new technology. As he completed more and more adult cases, Lagstein was surprised to discover that adults had even more remarkable life transformations than children or teenagers once they were proud of their smile. He found patient after patient experiencing profound life changes in their jobs, relationships & marriages. Once he realized that he was doing significantly more than straightening adults' teeth, he decided to author a book entitled Brace Yourself For Success. It tells countless stories of life transformations from adults who were once embarrassed by their smile then went through the six month technology and experienced a dramatic reversal! Dr. Lagstein made it his mission to help as many people as he can realize their dreams by giving them the smile they always wanted in a short time without pain, embarrassment or sacrifice. You can read more about him at http://www.successfulsmile.com/about.php. My thought on the interview hear is that we can discuss how self esteem, job security, happy marriages, and successful parenting can all be linked to the self confidence that comes when you are happy with your outward appearance. After airing 22 episodes in a one year, Aurea and her show has been awarded six television awards including the highest honor of a regional EMMY for her latest episode on Noah’s Ark Animal and Children Rehabilitation Centerthat aired on PBS Atlanta. Although Dr. Rey did not invent this procedure, he has helped develop it. This procedure, performed by only a handful of surgeons, allows a small incision to be hidden deep in the belly button. He utilizes an endoscopic camera, a miniature subcutaneous image transmitter that allows him to manipulate the implant by watching the entire procedure on monitors. This technique is much less invasive, resulting in less pain, less bruising and a quicker post-operative recovery (Dowden. Plast. Reconstr. Surg. 106: 190, 2000). Additionally, it has the advantage of single incision placed in an already existing scar, the belly button. Dr. Rey recognizes that not every patient is interested in this innovative technique and he is able to offer the traditional through the nipple, arm pit or under the breast approach as well. Dr. Rey also enjoys all other areas of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has expertise in the latest techniques in liposculpture, breast lift, breast reduction, brow lift, endoscopic face lift, nose improvement surgery, ear reshaping, laser eyelid rejuvenation surgery, neck lift, male surgery, tummy tightening, lip enhancement, BotoxTM and JuvidermTM. Dr. Rey is concerned about the integrity of the plastic surgery industry. He encourages all patients considering image enhancement procedures to do their homework, ask questions and always insist on the very best. He has practiced the martial arts for 35 years and has training in Copoeira, Jiu Jitsu, Greco Roman Wrestling, and Jaet Kune Do. He holds black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Dr. Rey lives the lifestyle he recommends! He exercises daily and rests on Sunday. His diet is a modified Paleo diet. Besides fruits, vegetables and lean meats he also adds yams, sweet potatoes, brown rice, oats and other legumes in moderation because of their muscle building and cardiovascular protective properties. He keeps very active in numerous charities including the American Red Cross and Hershey’s Smile Foundation. Christian Slater

Born Christian Michael Leonard Slater on August 18, 1969, in New York, New York. During the 1980s, Christian Slater emerged as one of film’s leading young actors. He also became somewhat notorious for his life off-screen as well. The son of an actor and a casting director, Slater landed his first acting job as a child, appearing on the soap opera One Life to Live. In 1980, Slater made his Broadway debut in a revival of The Music Man starring Dick Van Dyke. Several more stage roles soon followed in such musical productions as Copperfield (1981) and Merlin(1983). In 1985, he made his film debut in The Legend of Billy Jean at the age of 15. Slater soon found himself earning strong marks for his supporting role opposite veteran performer Sean Connery in 1986’s historical thriller The Name of the Rose about a series of murders in a monastery. A short time later, Slater had his first leading part in the action mysteryGleaming the Cube (1989), playing a skateboarding teen who investigates his brother’s death. That same year, his remarkable turn in the dark hit comedyHeathers (1989) with Winona Rider helped make Slater a star. He played a rebellious teen who romances Ryder’s character and undermines their high school’s social hierarchy—dominated by several girls named Heather—through evil means. In this role, Slater drew comparisons to Jack Nicholson from some critics. Off screen, Slater got in trouble with the law that December. He was arrested for drunk driving after leading the police on a high-speed chase, which ended when he crashed his car into two telephone poles. It was his second arrest for this offense, and Slater was later sentenced to 10 days in jail. The following year, Slater starred in Pump Up the Volume (1990) as a pirate radio station operator. He earned positive reviews for his performance, and his growing female fan base helped boost the film's success at the box office. He also appeared in the western Young Guns II (1990) with Emilio Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, and Lou Diamond Phillips that same year. Playing a young version of notorious crime boss Lucky Luciano, Slater starred in Mobsters (1991) with Richard Grieco and Patrick Dempsey, which received mixed reviews. He went on to a supporting role in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), starring Kevin Costner as the legendary rebel. The film proved to be another critical and box office dud for Slater. A longtime Star Trek fan, Slater was delighted to have a small role in 1991’s Star Trek IV: The Undiscovered Country(1991). His career as a leading man received a boost from his offbeat role in the romantic dramedy Untamed Heart(1993) opposite Marisa Tomei. In the hit film, he played a reclusive, shy busboy who becomes involved with a waitress after rescuing her from a sexual assault. Both Slater and Tomei earned raves for their portrayal of an unusual pair in love. View Guest page
