Episode Description

I recently had the privilege of attended an event where the Dali Lama spoke. He suggested that in order to develop and respect others we need compassion and forgiveness. Not as a religious practice as these are universal ideas and ideals. It doesn’t matter if people are rich or poor this is a human action. This is not a religious action. We need a practice of compassion not through prayer but by using our common experience of our convictions, our constructive emotions. Some emotions are very bad and destructive for friendship and family; some emotions are very helpful. Once you realize that anger and hatred are very harmful try to distance yourself from these emotions, and the intensity of these emotions. Then positive emotions come up and that makes change in your life and in our world. Tune in this week to hear excerpts from the Dalai Lama’s message at the Civic Centre in Ottawa, and Eighteen Rules For Living that he presented to humanity at the start of the new millennium.
