Special Encore Presentation: Futurist Joel Garreau on What the Promise and Peril of Radical Evolution Could Mean to Your Global Reach
July 5, 2012
Hosted by Té Revesz
“We are at an inflection point in history,” says this week’s guest Joel Garreau. For the first time technology is not only aimed outward at modifying our environment, but at enhancing our bodies, minds, metabolisms, and progeny. A leading interpreter of social, geographic and psycho-demographic trends, Garreau has the rare ability to anticipate the future. The future he sees is a RADICAL EVOLUTION where the GRIN technologies—Genetics, Robotics, Information technology and Nanotechnology—are “following a curve of exponential change” that will change what it means to be human. When some humans are enhanced and others aren't, what happens to education? Labor? Sports? The social order? Your ability to compete? Your customers? Will we become immortal? Will the technology curve create heaven? Hell? Or will human instinct throw the curve a curve? Joel Garreau advises firms around the globe how to catch the future and make it happen. Tune it to find out what it all means to your Global Reach.

We are all operating in a dynamic global marketplace, whether we reach across borders to find new customers and fresh ideas or face overseas competitors in our home market.
Global Reach embraces the opportunities and challenges we encounter when operating in multiple countries and cultures. We talk with entrepreneurs and executives about their strategies for winning in fast changing world markets: cross-cultural communication, global branding, media and marketing, transportation and manufacturing, the future of finance, alternative investment strategies, innovation and IP protection.
Global Reach interviews thought leaders about 21st century megatrends that impact international entities: trends like the business and politics of sustainability, the morphing nature of competitiveness, globalization, global companies vs national governments, worldview and growth prescriptions, emerging markets issues, and the corporate impact on society (governance, ethics and leadership).
