Essential Self-Parenting Skills
August 1, 2013
Hosted by Leah Brenda Smith
The primary objective of self-parenting is to fulfill your emotional dependency needs that were not met during childhood. Emotional dependency needs involve intimacy, nurturing, unconditional love and boundary protection; these are essential to feel safe and secure in the world. Intimacy allows you to feel emotionally close to yourself and others. Everyone requires self-nurturing. People have a basic need to give and receive unconditional love. To develop healthy boundaries it is important to learn how to communicate your feelings. When you feel emotionally safe you will be able to reconnect with feelings, memories and emotions that have been frozen in time behind ego defenses. When you practice self-parenting skills, the childlike defenses that kept you safe when you were young are no longer necessary. By consciously fulfilling your own emotional dependency needs you can thrive as a highly effective, mature adult. Tune in this week to learn more about essential self-parenting skills.
