Memories, Moving, Money, and Meditation. Hello 2016
January 14, 2016
Hosted by Dr. Irene Conlan
This is Irene Conlan and it's MY TURN. Every now and then I want "my chance" to say whatever I want to say on The Self Improvement Show and this is it. Of course we will take a look back at 2015, but only briefly, to set the stage for 2016. I have several passions. I have become keenly aware of what happens when you don't plan for your retirement and suddenly you find yourself there (yes, it seems suddenly even though you've had a lifetime to get ready for it). We will talk about that. What do you do about it? You find a way to earn money. And we will talk about that. And what if you don't know how to go about it or where to find customers, or . . . And, yes, we will talk about that! Most importantly, how to you take care of you so you are able to meet new challenges, find new ways of doing things, meet new people and not lose your balance? For one thing, you meditate! And how do you have fun in the midst of doing all that? Let's talk!

The Self Improvement Show was created because almost everyone wants to be better, do better, and achieve more, but we don't always know how to do that. We aren't looking for perfection. We are simply trying to improve in ways that allow us more happiness, contentment and success with some laughter along the way. We address issues common to us all and suggest useful tools that will help you tap into your strengths and your wonderful uniqueness. We think most self improvement is an "inside job" so we talk a lot about how to "go within" to make lasting changes. We talk to people who have struggled and won and have great stories to tell as well as those who live ordinary lives in extraordinary ways. The show is laid back, informative and down to earth. The welcome mat is always out and we invite you to join us.
Dr. Irene Conlan
Dr. Irene Conlan is serious about helping you find the tools you need to achieve your self improvement goals and begin to experience the happiness you deserve and desire.
She has a Masters degree in nursing and a Ph.D. in metaphysics. Irene has taught nursing at ASU, served as Administrator of Nursing at a major Phoenix hospital, and served as Assistant Director in the Arizona Department of Health Services. A certified hypnotherapist, Irene has had her own therapy practice for the past 16 years.
Irene believes that in this stressful world we need help more than ever. We rush from one place to the next, to work, the store, to appointments, to get our kids to soccer practice, ballet, gymnastics, school or the mall. We can be found 24/7 by email, cell phone, or pager. We are stretched to the max and wonder why we can’t sleep, can’t think, and can’t relax. We are enticed by drugs, alcohol and sex to give us an outlet or deal with the stress and many choose to use them. Some rage. Some over-exercise. Some go out and shoot other people. Some simply quit.
In this frenetic activity there is one constant – we are each looking for happiness. Ask the addict, the thief, the anorexic, the debutante, the CEO, service professionals, people you meet on the street or while shopping – ask them what they want. They will, if they can verbalize it, tell you what they truly want is happiness.
Let’s talk about the improvements we can make that help us be happy now.
